One-Day Workshop in Hamburg
Date: Saturday, November 21
Time: 10 am–5 pm ·
Hamburg, Ottensen district
“Drawing faces? I can’t do that.” I hear this sentence again and again. But drawing faces is much easier once you understand a few basic things.
In this one-day workshop, I will show you step by step how a face is structured. We will focus on the most important proportions, on the eyes, nose, and mouth, on the shape of the head and hair, and look at different views and head positions.
In the morning, we will work on and practice these basics together. The goal is not to draw as realistic portraits as possible or to memorize rules. Rather, I want to give you an understanding of how a face works.
Because it is precisely this knowledge that then gives us the freedom to let go of the rules again.
In the afternoon, we will become freer and more intuitive. We will change proportions, simplify, leave things out, and experiment with line, shape, and a little color. With simple exercises, I will show you how a face can suddenly emerge from a flat area or a simple shape—and how different these faces can look.
The goal of the workshop is for you to understand the proportions of a face so well that you can increasingly draw your own faces intuitively.
You need no prior knowledge for this and do not need to bring anything. All the materials we need for this day will be ready for you.
At the end, we will look together at what has been created and end the day with a glass of wine or a non-alcoholic alternative.
